Customize Color Scheme for Graphene WordPress Template

I recently discovered how to take an existing WordPress theme and customize the colors to match an existing design on a web site.  If you have a standard web site without blog functionality, you can add a blog to your site and update the overall design to create continuity between your main page and your blog.

The following instructions will help you understand how to view CSS attributes so you may edit or change them.

Before you get started, it's recommended to create a child theme rather than edit directly into your template.  This will allow you to only change what's required and it's easy to make non-destructible changes.

Download CSS Viewing Tool:

Step 1:  Download Firebug
Step 2:  View the bug icon in the lower right hand of your screen
Step 3:  Select the arrow/rectangle icon in the header
Step 4:  View the element in the main screen and the CSS attributes in the right
Step 5:  Test out changes for color directly in the browser
Step 6:  Copy CSS changes to your main CSS file on your server

Best WordPress Plugins for Adsense Blogs

After setting up several Law related blogs, I have found that the following Adsense plugin for Wordpress makes blog sustainment easy, fast, and effective.  By adding Adsense to your blog, you can earn income when users on your site click on ads.  Once you have one Adsense account, you can add Adsense on multiple sites.

This plugin is easy to use and set up in five minutes or less. You can also update color schemes, the size of the ads, number of ads per page, and the type of add (text, image, text, text and image), and ad placement options.  If you don't already have an Adsense account and you would like to get one, I have found that getting a Blogger account from Google and then adding Adsense is the fastest way to approval.  Blogger blogs from Google are a nice addition to any Lawyer marketing plan and it's free and easy to set up.  You can use this site to write articles and refer readers to your main web site.  Approval may take a few days.

To Get an Adsense Account:
  1. Sign up for a Blogger Account
  2. Login to Blogger
  3. Click "Monetize" on your dashboard
  4. Click "Sign up for Adsense"

Once you have your Adsense account, you can add your Adsense ID by going to your Adsense panel on the "Home" tab and in the sidebar "Account Settings."  For example, pub-1234567890123456.

The exact appearance of the ad will vary depending on your WordPress template.  Including examples of the various configurations.
